Post-storm community gratitude goes out to the Hawaiian Humane Society, which reports it has sheltered more than 200 pets that either lost their homes or were found stray during and after Hurricane Lala’s onslaught. The animals were taken in at a facility already over capacity, with more than 100 rescued during the storm and a total of 217 Lala-related rescues as of Friday.
Owners who’ve been separated from their pets should check with HHS: Only 12 dogs and two cats had been reunited with owners by Friday.
