The current movement to disallow voting by mail is crazy. It’s nearly impossible for the millions of people who work to get to voting centers, wait in long lines and cast their vote on Election Day.
Not all employers allow their employees time off to vote, and those that do often do not give ample time to wait in line. In many states, Hawaii included, there are many two-parent working families, and those who work multiple jobs just to make ends meet.
Despite the lack of evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, the calls for ending voting by mail continue. I suspect the real reason for this is to try and prevent working people from voting, and skewing the vote toward retirees who nationwide tend to vote for conservative candidates.
Let’s call this movement what it is: voter suppression and election rigging.
