Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident in which a 21-year-old Honaunau woman was allegedly threatened, assaulted with a knife and kidnapped Sunday night.

Police said the younger woman was visiting a male friend’s house in Captain Cook at about 7:15 p.m. when his ex-girlfriend allegedly threatened her, then allegedly used a knife to cut off some of her hair and cut her neck and chest. Police said the cuts did not require treatment.

Police said suspect allegedly ordered the 21-year-old to get into a car with her and two other women and the 21-year-old was driven to a gas station in the Kaloko industrial area and another one in Waimea.

At the Waimea gas station, the woman got out of the car and called 911. The suspect was arrested later that night.

But after conferring with prosecutors, police released the 35-year-old woman without charges at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday pending further investigation.
