Ewa Beach schools are locked down during drug raid at nearby house

A drug raid by Honolulu police officers and a SWAT team today sent Campbell High School and at least three other Ewa Beach schools into a brief lockdown.

An officer with the Weed and Seed program called the high school about 1:50 p.m. and alerted school officials about the upcoming raid, said Campbell complex Superintendent Annette Nishikawa.

The officer said a SWAT team would help in the raid at a home nearby.

Campbell officials informed other schools in the complex, and Pohakea, Ilima, and Ewa Beach schools went into lockdown as a precaution about 2:05 p.m., school officials said.

Nishikawa said each school determined whether to go into lockdown and additional schools in the complex may have done so.

Officials ended the lockdown in about 10 minutes without incident.

Police did not release information about the raid.
