John Jay McGarry was arrested and charged in connection with a October 2009 burglary in Manoa. Police say DNA evidence links him to the crime.

DNA evidence recovered at the scene of a Manoa burglary in 2009 led to the arrest of a suspect yesterday, police said.

Prosecutors charged John Jay McGarry, 41, with first-degree burglary yesterday morning in connection with the Oct. 20, 2009, burglary of a Manoa residence. Bail for McGarry was set at $50,000.

Police said they matched DNA found at the scene to McGarry in October 2010 and arrested him yesterday morning at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
