Hawaii’s Parker McLachlin is back where he won his only PGA Tour title this week. He and Dean Wilson will play the Reno-Tahoe Open at Montreux Golf and Country Club. McLachlin won in Reno in 2008.
The two-year exemption convinced him to change his swing. He missed 15 cuts in 2009 and made just four last year, losing his status and failing to get through Qualifying School.
McLachlin split with coach Sean Foley earlier this year. Reno is just his third PGA Tour start. He has a second and an eighth on the Gateway Tour.
Wilson, a Castle High graduate, has two Top-20 finishes this year. He has made nine cuts in 20 tour starts, winning nearly $400,000. He needs less than $13,000 to reach $9 million in career winnings.
