Chief U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway on Monday ordered Ryan Kimura to pay his former employer, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, $1.5 million in restitution.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says the 42-year-old must also pay the Internal Revenue Service more than $500,000 to cover taxes he would have paid had he accurately reported his income to the government.

Morgan Stanley has settled separately with his former wife’s family.

Kimura pleaded guilty in April. Prosecutors say he induced members of his wife’s family to deposit more than $2.1 million in accounts when he was at Morgan Stanley. They unknowingly applied for and received Morgan Stanley Dean Witter checks, which Kimura used.
