Maui exhibit transforms trash into art

Maui residents are invited to create and display works of art made of trash for the Art of Trash 2012 exhibit beginning April 14 at Maui Mall.

The annual exhibit showcases everyday objects that have been transformed and given new life. It is organized by nonprofit groups Community Work Day Program and SharingAloha. Work by the students of Pomaikai Elementary School will be showcased this year.

People are asked to bring their works to the mall space next to Taco Del Mar from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14. The entry fee is $10 per piece.

Fair offers tips on maintaining health at work

Maui County, the state’s Maui District Health Office and the Maui County Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition will sponsor a Workplace Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 at the Kalana o Maui building, 200 S. High St., Wai­luku.

April 1-7 has been proclaimed Workplace Wellness Week in Maui County.

Attendees will receive tips from health experts on how to stay healthy in the workplace. Key areas of discussion will include diet and nutrition, ergonomics, exercise incentives, health education, health screenings and stress management.
