CHIN ‘SECURE’ AT SEE DAI DOO DINNER Honolulu Managing Director Doug Chin, left, and his wife, Kathleen, talked with See Dai Doo Society President Marsha S.Y. Au-Maxwell and her husband, Gary Maxwell, during the group’s annual spring banquet March 17 at New Empress Restaurant. Chin’s boss, Mayor Peter Carlisle, entertained the crowd earlier in the evening and observed in passing that while he was wearing a Chinese shirt to the event, Chin was in a Western suit. Asked later if he might start wearing traditional Chinese clothes to work, Chin replied good-naturedly that he was “secure” enough in his “Chineseness” to wear Western attire anywhere.

A HAPPY 'DIRTY THIRTY' FOR MISS CATWINGS CBC members Ella Flaunt, left, Ashtin Party and La Femme Rikita took a break in the alley outside the bar. Party brought down the house with an elaborate, imaginatively accessorized faux-strip to a Lords of Acid song whose title probably shouldn’t be mentioned here.

'LAST CHANCE' AT MARKS GARAGE CBC?guest performer RyNoNo got a much-deserved after-show hug from Lola Love. RyNoNo plays the supporting role of the sheriff’s husband with a skilled blend of low-key characterization and adept physical comedy, and gets quite a workout in a scene where two women fight over him. The final performance is at 6:30 p.m. today; tickets are $15. Info: www.cherryblossomcabaret.com.

A HAPPY ‘DIRTY THIRTY’ FOR MISS CATWINGS Professor Pandemonium was one of several featured performers as Miss Catwings and the Cherry Blossom Cabaret ohana celebrated her 30th birthday with the “Miss Catwings Dirty Thirty” party March 24 at Mercury Bar. While some women seem to think living to the age of 30 is a bad thing, Miss Catwings said she is “embracing it.” In lieu of presents, she suggested well-wishers could perform or buy one of the other performers a drink.
