2 teenage girls injured in minivan crash

A minivan driven by a 14-year-old girl crashed into a utility pole Sunday morning, injuring the driver and a 14-year-old female passenger, the city’s Division of Emergency Medical Services reported.

The accident also caused a power outage for 2,100 customers in Waianae.

A Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman said power was restored to most customers by 9 a.m. The pole was repaired and power restored completely by 4 p.m.

Paramedics took the two girls to a hospital in serious condition following the 5 a.m. accident on Waianae Valley Road.

The force of the impact knocked the utility pole off its foundation, paramedics said.

Injured woman found in middle of highway

Paramedics took a 33-year-old woman, found with critical injuries late Saturday on Kamehameha Highway, to the hospital, the city’s Emergency Medical Services Division reported.

The woman was found in the middle of the highway near Whitmore Avenue in Wahiawa, paramedics said.

The ambulance call appears to be connected to the arrest of a 39-year-old Wahiawa man, who allegedly assaulted a 33-year-old woman while in a vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree assault near the same location.
