Hawaii left-hander Scott Squier has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, the school announced late Thursday night.
Squier was not on the 24-man travel roster that left for California on Wednesday. The Rainbows (9-29, 4-11 Big West) open a seven-game road trip today with a series at Pacific (10-29, 3-12).
Trapasso would not comment on Squier’s absence when reached over the phone on Wednesday.
UH issued a two-sentence release on the situation Thursday night.
The 6-foot-6 sophomore has started 22 games in two seasons with the Rainbows. He’s 0-6 this year with a 3.44 ERA and has struck out 101 batters in 1191⁄3 career innings.
With his absence, UH is traveling with only nine pitchers and will have to get through seven games in 10 days.
UH plays a midweek game at Fresno State on Tuesday after wrapping up the Pacific series and closes with three games at Long Beach State.
