Strong earthquake off Vanuatu poses no threat to Hawaii
A strong earthquake that struck off the coast of Vanuatu this morning, but poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The preliminary 6.6 magnitude temblor hit at 6:03 a.m. Hawaii time 23 miles west of Sola, Vanuatu at a depth of 122 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Officials at the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management said the quake poses no tsunami threat to the state.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
