Hawaii’s Carissa Moore repeated as champion of the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach on Wednesday in Australia.
Moore edged Tyler Wright of Australia 16.23 to 15.77 in the final of the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour contest.
It was Moore’s second straight tour victory. The defending world champion also won the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro earlier this month in Australia.
Moore also beat Wright in the Rip Curl final a year ago.
Late in the final, Wright continued fighting for a winning score and crashed into dry reef after a long ride. She was not hurt.
In the semifinals, Moore got past Sally Fitzgibbons, while Wright eliminated Stephanie Gilmore, who is a five-time world champion.
After the first three events of the 2014 tour, Moore (26,500 points) leads the ratings ahead of Gilmore (23,200) and Wright (21,200).
The 21-year-old Moore is gunning for her third world title in the past four years.
