Firefighters were trying to determine the cause of a fire that caused $250,000 damage to a home in Kaumana.

The fire broke out at about 7:17 p.m. Friday in the enclosed garage of a two-story home at 10 Manaolana Street.

The flames spread to the main home and had burned about 60 percent of the house. Firefighters arrived at 7:27 p.m. and were able to bring the fire under control at 8 p.m. and extinguished it at 8:20 p.m.

Firefighters said they were able to prevent about $100,000 of additional damage to the home.
