Coco Ho made the best of 2- to 4-foot surf at Huntington Beach on Thursday.

Coco Ho won an all-Hawaii heat Thursday at the U.S. Open of Surfing, defeating Carissa Moore and Alana Blanchard.
Ho moved into the quarterfinals of the World Championship Tour event in Huntington Beach, Calif.
"It was cool to surf with Carissa (Moore) and Alana (Blanchard) and it’s a heat we’ve all had before," Ho said on the ASP World Tour website. "We tried to have fun in that no-losers round and I’m happy I got through. I think all of the adrenaline and psych makes you push harder on every turn and that’s what I’m going for."
Ho equaled the highest single-wave and two-wave score of the day, putting up an 8.50 on one ride and a 15.67 total. Moore took second in the heat at 13.24 and Blanchard finished third at 10.10.
Moore and Blanchard will surf in Round 4 today.
In the men’s prime event, Hawaii’s Granger Larsen won his heat with a 12.84 score, advancing to the Round of 16. Sebastian Zietz, meanwhile placed third in his heat and will surf today in the elimination round of 24.
