Firefighters are investigating the cause of a two-alarm fire that destroyed three vehicles and left hundreds without power in Kalihi on Friday.
The fire started at about 3:25 p.m. near 1714 Mary St.
Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said responding firefighters found three vehicles fully involved. The vehicle fires were extinguished before 4 p.m. and caused some damage to a neighboring building.
Jenkins said firefighters were checking whether any flames extended into adjacent buildings.
Initial reports said the fire started from a power line that fell on the vehicles, Jenkins said.
A Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman said at about 4:30 p.m. that crews were working on an outage in the Kalihi Kai area because of the downed power line. He said about 540 customers were without power.
