Salim Gloyd scored 28 points and Vandyon Lockett and Parker Farris both added 17 as the Hawaii Hilo men’s basketball team beat Academy of Art 72-69 on Thursday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

The Vulcans improved to 2-9, 2-5 PacWest.

Marshawn McMahan finished with 19 points for the Urban Knights (4-10, 2-6).

HPU women knock off Dominican

Cece Pearl scored 17 points, Breanna Mackenzie added 16 and Aminata Cole grabbed 18 rebounds as the Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team defeated Dominican (Calif.) 66-54 on Thursday at Blaisdell Arena.

The Sharks improved to 9-5, 6-1 PacWest.

Allyssa Weatherd finished with 15 points and Taylor Donnot added 14 for the Penguins (9-5, 5-2).

>> Celeste Claw scored 19 points, Jiashan Cui added 17 and Valerie Nawahine had 16 as Brigham Young-Hawaii rallied past Fresno Pacific 82-71 at Cannon Activities Center.

The Seasiders (6-6, 3-4 PacWest) outscored the Sunbirds (2-12, 0-8) 29-13 in the fourth quarter.

Hannah Ramirez led Fresno Pacific with 15 points.
