Makaha’s Yancy Medeiros has earned his first main event fight in the UFC.
Riding a three-fight winning streak and ranked No. 15 at welterweight for the first time, Medeiros will headline UFC Fight Night on Feb. 18 in Austin, Texas, against No. 10 Donald Cerrone.
The UFC confirmed the bout Wednesday.
Medeiros (15-4, 6-4 UFC) has earned three performance bonuses in his last four fights and has found more success since moving up from 155 pounds to 170.
Cerrone (32-10, 19-7), who owns wins over Matt Brown, Benson Henderson, Eddie Alvarez, Jim Miller and Jeremy Stephens in his career, has lost his past three fights and is 0-4 in title fights.
All three of Medeiros’ victories during his win streak have come by stoppage.
The fight will be five rounds and broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
Rolfing to make appearance at Ala Wai
Mark Rolfing will be at Ala Wai Golf Course today from 4-6 p.m. to answer questions and explain his vision for the future of the course’s driving range and golf in Hawaii. Rolfing will be around the practice putting green.
The city put out a request for proposals last week to create a long-term public-private partnership at the driving range that would include golf and entertainment. Bids are due at the end of January.
Rolfing lives on Maui and is considered Hawaii’s golf ambassador. He is a golf analyst for NBC and The Golf Channel and also works for Topgolf, a sports-entertainment company actively pursuing the partnership at Ala Wai.
