After losing in the fourth-round of the AVP Chicago Championships on Saturday, the second-ranked duo of Punahou graduate Taylor Crabb and Jake Gibb fought back to defend its tournament title Sunday.
Crabb and Gibb first went through former Punahou players Maddison McKibbin and Riley McKibbin 26-21, 21-18 in the contender’s bracket to earn their way back into the winner’s bracket, where they took on top-ranked Chase Budinger and Case Patterson in the semifinals.
After winning 22-20, 21-15 against Budinger/Patterson, Crabb and Gibb went on to defeat No. 3 Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser, 21-19, 21-10.
