Senior middle Emily Maglio put down a career-high 27 kills, but it was not enough as Hawaii lost to No. 23 Cal Poly tonight 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 17-15 in a Big West volleyball match in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Junior hitter McKenna Granato added 14 kills and senior hitter Kendra Koelsch a career-high 14 kills for the Rainbow Wahine (15-7, 9-2). It was the first time Hawaii lost in 12 visits to Mott Athletics Center and the first time since 1985 that the Wahine dropped the conference series to the Mustangs.

Cal Poly (21-2, 10-1) got a career-high 20 kills from senior hitter Raeann Greisen, 17 kills from junior hitter Adlee Van Winden and 14 kills from sophomore Torrey Van Winden. The Mustangs extended their winning streak to 16 matches in defeating the Wahine for just the sixth time in the series. All six victories by Cal Poly have been in five.

Wahine senior libero Savanah Kahakai finished with 18 digs and moved into fourth place on the all-time career digs list (1,330). Sophomore setter Norene Iosia added her 13th double-double of the season with 60 assists and 18 digs.

Hawaii has dropped 10 straight against ranked teams dating back to the 2014 NCAA tournament regional final loss to Minnesota. The Wahine travel to face UC Santa Barbara (6-15, 5-4) on Saturday.
