A 28-year-old Anahola man was arrested Tuesday after he drove off with an SUV from a car dealership in Lihue, resulting in injuries to an employee who jumped on the hood in an attemptto stop him, Kauai police said.

Jovi Enrique was arrested for investigation of second-degree robbery, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, reckless endangering, criminal property damage, and — driving without a license. His bail was set at $19,000.

Police said Enrique inquired about a Honda Pilot at King Auto Center in Lihue on Tuesday. While sitting in the driver’s seat to listen to the SUV’s engine, Enrique locked the doors and began driving away, police said. The 50-year-old employee tried to stop him, but fell onto the road and sustained abrasions.

Later that day, police found the Pilot on Kauai Beach Drive and arrested Enrique.
