University of Hawaii baseball falls short against Cal Poly

Stephen Tsai

Cal Poly scored seven runs in the sixth and then held on to defeat Hawaii 10-9 and win the first two of this three-game series at Les Murakami Stadium.

Adam Fogel’s fifth home run of the season, a three-run blast, gave UH a 3-1 lead in the first. Fogel entered in a 6-for-45 slump.

But the Mustangs chased UH starter Cade Smith with the sixth-inning surge.

In losing for the sixth time in seven games, the Rainbow Warriors dropped to 22-19 and 8-9 in the Big West. The Mustangs are 21-24 and 8-6.
