Woman who allegedly broke into car faces escape charge
A 27-year-old homeless woman, who walked away from Queen’s Medical Center while in custody for allegedly breaking into a car Sunday, now faces an additional charges of escape.
The suspect was taken to the hospital just before noon for medical treatment while being questioned for a misdemeanor crime of breaking into a car.
Police said the suspect walked away, but later was recaptured and also was being held in custody for nine outstanding bench warrants.

In custody but just walked away? And the officer was where when this happened?
Probably at the cafeteria getting some coffee.

homeless crimes are increasing
Probably focused on his/her cellphone. I’ve seen officers on their phones at accident or construction sites and they are oblivious to what is happening around them.
Guess officers have no pride today. If was me, I would the butt end of endless joking all day. Be afraid to come back to the station. My ..s would be grass and my sergeant would be the lawn mower, because he would also be the butt end of other supervisors.
I knew someone that popped herself in the locker room after a kid got away from her as she was taking him into JCPD. Very sad. It wasn’t even all her fault.

Another “transient” incident followed by “catch and release”. I believe we attract more undesirable transients due to the aforementioned. I’m not just referring to those who are transient vagrants. How many are in the Community with outstanding bench warrants and continue to break the law…it’s not just to the local population. Does it ever catch up…nope, either they continue to live in the Community and go thru the revolving door of “catch and release” or simply move on. Sad…
Non-violent rule will apply so soon it will be common place release of evil-doers. Why tie-up the courts?
If these homeless people don’t want the medical let them go. Stop wasting our tax money. Put them on a matson container and shop them away.

As in fishing, catch and release is to sustain the breeding stock for future generations. If that is the objective, unfortunately it’s working.
I like this…”sustain the breeding stock for future generations”…can’t we get rid of this gene pool?
Another weekly glitch for HPD. If these officers can’t watch & secure a prisoner I would hate to imagine how they handle a real case. Makes me think the case would be squashed so the officer wouldn’t have to write a report.
