Police arrested a 37-year-old man who allegedly threatened a Honolulu police officer with a knife at a downtown park.

Police said an officer was arresting the suspect for being in a park after hours, when the man allegedly resisted arrest and threatened to kill the officer and his family Friday night.

The suspect also said he had a weapon in his bag and reportedly threatened to use it to hurt the officer.

Police arrested the man for terroristic threatening and resisting arrest, in addition to being in a park after hours. The offense was later reclassified to harassment.

LKK, Deedy would've killed him on the 3rd shot, then killed the guy's friends becuase he was afraid of all of them. That's after he flashes his badge and declares himself.

IRT resident on gun fire. The first response is to draw their gun, stand off, call for backup and talk the perp on putting the bag with the knife down, have the perp lay down with hands in the back for handcuffs . If the perp attacks with a knife, the cop can try to disarm the perp with a kick or martial art. Last option is to use the gun to shoot in the gut (center of the body mass) not necessarily in the chest.

Standard law enforcement response is that if subject moves within a 21-foot distance toward the officer and doesn't stop upon verbal command...the officer is trained to shoot at center mass (chest area) to prevent subject from reaching him...
