Fire burns scrap metal yard, brush on Maui
Maui fire investigators are investigating the cause of a rubbish bin fire that spread to a scrap metal yard and nearby brush Thursday night in Puunene.
Fire companies from Kahului , Wailea , and Wailuku, responded to the rubbish bin fire at 9:38 p.m. at Hammerhead Metals.
Arriving firefighters found about three-quarters of an acre of scrap metal burning. The fire also burned about a quarter-acre of brush.
The brush fire was quickly brought under control. Firefighters got the scrap metal fire under control at 12:35 a.m.
The fire was extinguished at 6:59 a.m.
No one was injured and no monetary losses were reported.
