When the University of Hawaii football team was seeking a new logo several years ago, Kalakaua Timoteo submitted an entry.

“It didn’t get picked, but that’s how much I wanted to play for UH,” said Timoteo, a wide receiver for Mililani High.

His wish was granted when he received — and accepted — a 2016 scholarship offer from the Rainbow Warriors. Timoteo joins Mililani quarterback McKenzie Milton, also a junior, in making a pledge to UH.

“I was kind of waiting for the offer because I wanted to stay home and play for my hometown and represent Hawaii,” Timoteo said. “I wanted to stay home and be with my brothers and take care of my mom.”

Timoteo is 6 feet 2 and 190 pounds

“He has Spider-Man hands,” Mililani head coach Rod York said.

Tiimoteo caught seven passes for 117 yards and four touchdowns to help Mililani defeat Punahou in the state championship game two weeks ago. He had one drop — when he tried to make a one-handed catch.

Timoteo also plays basketball for the Trojans.
