Search continues for man who set truck on fire in Maui police lot

Maui police is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in connection with an investigation of an alleged stolen vehicle and arson.

At 6 a.m. Saturday, police said the suspect parked the stolen truck in the front parking lot of the Wailuku Police Station and set the interior on fire.

Surveillance cameras captured the male fleeing on foot. Police said he was last seen running through the Kaiser Permanente Clinic Wailuku parking lot. He was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and black basketball shorts.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Maui Police Department at 244-6400. The public may also call Det. Gregg Katayama at the Wailuku Criminal Investigation Division at 244-6422.
