Little progress is recorded on lava movement in Pahoa

Ongoing monitoring of Kilauea Volcano’s June 27 lava flow indicates no significant movement at the front of the flow and only sluggish activity among several active breakouts.
The leading edge of the flow remained stalled Sunday morning, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense and the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
The closest active lava flow to Pahoa Village Road was 0.4 mile upslope of the road.
Other active breakouts were located above the cemetery below Apaa Street and in various areas upslope of the transfer station. None of the flows pose an immediate threat to residents.
Scientists are also tracking a new breakout about a mile northeast of Puu Oo cone.
Smoke conditions are moderate with light tradewinds blowing smoke in the south-southeast direction. Officials advise residents downwind with respiratory problems to remain indoors as smoke conditions might increase in some areas.
Hawaii County Civil Defense said Pahoa Village Road between Apaa Street and Post Office Road remains closed. Access is restricted to area residents.
Businesses and commercial areas of Pahoa town are accessible through Pahoa Village Road at the intersection of Highways 130 and 132 and Post Office Road.
