Safeway recalls ground beef patties
Safeway is voluntarily recalling 1 million pounds of frozen ground beef patties that may have been contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
Valley Meat Co. produced the ground beef patties, which were sold under the Butcher’s Cut label in Hawaii, California and Nevada at Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Pak ‘N Save stores.
Customers should throw out the product or, for a full refund, return the meat to the store.

Two Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls are set to square off before the Hawaii Publishers Association. Former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann will pose and be posed questions tomorrow at noon at the Dole Cannery Iwilei Ballroom.
The debate will not include lesser-known Democratic candidates.
