The University of Hawaii, Manoa marching band finished in the top three spots but failed to win CBS Television’s $25,000 "Hawaii Five-0" Marching Band Mania.

The University of Maryland marching band, whose members formed the words "HAWAII FIVE-0" and "BOOK EM DANNO," claimed the prize.

UH was one of 18 schools competing in the contest, which required bands to upload their videotaped version of the classic Morton Stevens theme for "Hawaii Five-0."

Entries were judged on musicianship, band choreography, originality of performance and an evaluation of the performance on the whole. However, CBS also had the option of including public balloting in the selection process.
