Kailua’s Patacsil leads state bowling

Kailua’s Austin Patacsil ran up a big lead and held on to sit in the top spot after the first day the Billy Tees/HHSAA Bowling State Championships at Lihue Lanes on Kauai yesterday.

Patacsil rolled games of 237, 231, 227, 209, 259 and 193 to take a 98-pin lead over Nicholas Azumi of Pearl City (1,258). Bradley Doi of Kamehameha is in third with 1,256 pins after his 279 in the second round, the high for the day.

The final three rounds will be held today.

Mililani is on track for the boys team title with a 5,690 score, Pearl City is in second at 5,653 and defending champion Hawaii Baptist sits third with 5,391.
