Union withdraws unfair labor practice charge against Honolulu Symphony

The union representing musicians of the Honolulu Symphony is withdrawing an unfair labor practice charge.

The musicians said today that their union informed the National Labor Relations Board of the move to allow the Honolulu Symphony Society to file its bankruptcy reorganization plan and to move the organization forward.

The charge was filed after the society announced in July that it had accepted the musicians’ resignations, even though the musicians said they had not resigned.

The symphony filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December, citing a big drop in donations. It had canceled the rest of its 2009-2010 season last November.
