A storm system passing through the state could still bring occasional heavy rain to all islands and will likely lead to hot and humid conditions through the weekend.

The National Weather Service says a flash flood watch remains in effect through this afternoon for all islands.

Thunder showers associated with the storm passed mostly to the north and south of Oahu. Lightning and thunder could be seen offshore overnight.

About 1.8 inches of rain fell at Mohihi Crossing near Kokee on Kauai during the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m. today. Puu Opae in Waimea got 1.6 inches.

On Oahu, .95 inches fell in Makaha and Waianae got .76 inches.

"The heaviest stuff stayed offshore," said National Weather Service Forecaster Bob Burke. But he warned the storm system is still moving through the islands.

"There’s a lot of moisture around," he said. "There’s still a threat of isolated thunder showers."

The system has cut off normal tradewinds so the weather will likely remain hot and humid through the weekend until cooling trades return early next week, Burke said.

That also means there’s a chance of afternoon showers due to daytime heating.
