Body of man found near building

A woman discovered the body of a 46-year-old man lying next to a building in Kaneohe early Saturday morning.

The 58-year-old woman first saw the body around 6 p.m. Friday, then noticed it again in the same position while on her way home at 2 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

The woman checked on the man, who was unresponsive.

There were no signs of foul play, police said.

8 rescued from grounded boat

Honolulu Fire Department crews rescued eight people whose boat ran aground on a reef last night in Kahala.

The vessel ran aground in an area fronting the Waialae Country Club shortly after 6:30 p.m.

An HFD helicopter carried the people from the boat to a beach park in a rescue net. They were reported safely ashore at 7:45 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Man, 83, accused of raping 9-year-old

An 83-year-old man has been charged in the alleged sexually assault of a 9-year-old girl in Waianae between March 2009 and August of this year, police said.

Lindburgh Lau was arrested Friday on two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault, police said.

 CORRECTION: A Honolulu Fire Department helicopter and its crew brought ashore eight people from a boat that ran aground off Kahala Sunday night. A previous “Police/Fire” item said an HFD rescue boat picked up the stranded boaters.
