3 teenage inmates caught in escape

An escape attempt by three teenagers at the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility ended Sunday night when the girls crashed a stolen vehicle into a fence, police said.

Two 15-year-old girls and a 16-year-old girl overpowered a 52-year-old female correctional officer at about 8 p.m., police said. The teenagers took the correctional officer’s vehicle keys and attempted to flee but crashed the vehicle into a fence and were captured, police said.

Boyfriend is arrested in threats

Honolulu police arrested a 47-year-old McCully man Sunday night who allegedly threatened and punched his girlfriend and stole her car.

The 53-year-old victim told police that her boyfriend drove her around the Pearl City area for two hours Saturday night while hitting her and threatening to kill her.

The man demanded her car and punched her when she refused, police said. The suspect dropped the woman off near a restaurant in Pearl City at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and she called police. Police located and arrested the suspect Sunday night on Waiwai Loop near the airport.

Harassment at gas station alleged

Police arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly harassed a man and woman at a Kailua gas station Sunday.

Police said the suspect approached a 22-year-old man and yelled at him. An argument ensued, and the suspect allegedly grabbed a squeegee and broke the driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle. The man then allegedly grabbed the arm of an 18-year-old woman who was trying to get into the car from the passenger side.

Police located and arrested the suspect at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

Woman identifies suspect in assault

Police arrested a 29-year-old man Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping and third-degree sexual assault.

The alleged victim, a 30-year-old woman, told police that she was held against her will and sexually assaulted in Waikiki between 1 and 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police arrested the suspect after the woman identified him.
