Hawaii falls to Penn State in 5
Joe Sunder put down 33 kills as No. 10 Penn State outlasted No. 5 Hawaii 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 24-26, 16-14 tonight in the Outrigger Hotels Invitational men’s volleyball tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.
It was the Nittany Lions’ fifth consecutive win over the Warriors (0-2).
Jonas Umlauft led Hawaii with 28 kills and Joshua Walker added 17.
The match lasted 2 hours and 41 minutes.
The Warriors will face UCLA tomorrow in the tournament’s 7 p.m. finale. The Bruins (4-1) turned back Ball State (2-1) earlier tonight 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 30-28.
Penn State (1-1) meets Ball State tomorrow at 5 p.m.
