James MacArthur, best known for his role as Danny "Danno" Williams in the original "Hawaii Five-0," will be honored at a "celebration of life" tribute at 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at Hawaii Theatre.

MacArthur died Oct. 28 at the age of 72.

His widow, H.B. MacArthur, will be attending the event with other relatives and friends. The tribute will be hosted by Jimmy Borges. Other guests include "Five-0" co-star Al Harrington, MacArthur’s longtime friend Philip Altfeld and Broadway actress Caroline Lagerfelt.

Entertainment will be provided by Halau Ka Noeau, Borges with pianist Dan Del Negro, Maila Gibson with Ben Vegas, Mary Gutzi and Jordan Segundo.

With a career that spanned more than 50 years on radio, stage, movies and television, MacArthur is best known for both his early work as a Disney star in movie classics such as "Kidnapped" and "Swiss Family Robinson" and his starring role opposite Jack Lord in the still-popular original television series of "Hawaii Five-O."

This is the last of three planned memorials for MacArthur. Others were held in his hometown of Nyack, N.Y., and in Palm Desert, Calif., where he lived with his wife.

The tribute is free and open to the public.

The family suggests memorial donations to Hawaii Theatre. Tax-deductible donations can be made by cash, check or credit cards in person or over the phone. Charge donations by phone during regular box office hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Thursdays, by calling 528-0506. Information is also available at www.hawaiitheatre.com.
