Man hurt in mo-ped crash in Kunia

A man in his 20s was critically injured last night in a mo-ped crash in Village Park.

The crash occurred at 5:24 p.m. in the area of 94-498 Kupuna Loop.

The mo-ped rider was taken in critical condition by ambulance to a hospital.

Search begins for missing hunter

Honolulu police and pig hunters are looking for a missing man in Waianae Valley.

Police said 37-year-old Thomas Kalama Jr., an avid hunter, was last seen at 4 p.m. last Tuesday at his home in Waianae. Family members found Kalama’s 1983 Toyota pickup at 1 p.m. Sunday parked at the end of Waianae Valley Road.

Convicted robber gets year in prison

A man convicted of robbery at a Maalaea park on Maui in November 2009 has been sentenced to a year in prison.

Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza sentenced Kevin Lifoifoi, 27, of Kahului on Thursday and placed him on five years’ probation, the Maui News said. Lifoifoi was also ordered to pay $5,264 in restitution, with the cost to be shared by others involved.

Before midnight on Nov. 5, 2009, Jerome Metcalfe, 50, was at Haycraft Park with his brother and reported being hit and kicked by three men who allegedly stole $125 from him. Metcalfe suffered contusions, a fractured right finger and fractured ribs.
