Hawaii December jobless rate stuck at 6.4% for sixth straight month
Hawaii’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 6.4 percent in December for the sixth straight month, according a report released today.
For all of 2010 the jobless rate averaged 6.6 percent, the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations reported.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 9.4 percent in December from 9.8 percent in November.
The unemployment rate is derived from a telephone survey of households. A separate poll of businesses showed that the number of Hawaii’s non-farm payroll jobs fell to 589,800 in December, down 3,900 from November.
