73-year-old Wal-Mart robbery suspect charged
A 73-year-old man was scheduled to appear in District Court this morning on a 2nd degree robbery charge for allegedly attempting to rob employeees at the Keeaumoku Street Wal-Mart Tuesday morning.
Police said the man, of a Chinatown address, walked into the store and demanded money from several employees. He claimed to have a gun but none was seen.
He left without taking anything and was followed by several employees, who found him in a nearby apartment building on Sheridan Street, police said. Officers entered an apartment unit and arrested him.
Prosecutors charged him with 2nd degree robbery last night. He was being held on $16,000 bail.
