Parnaby and Nohara earn WAC softball honors
Hawaii’s Kaia Parnaby was named a Western Athletic Conference softball co-pitcher of the week today. New Mexico State’s Hoku Nohara, a Kamehameha graduate, was named the league’s hitter of the week.
Parnaby, a sophomore left hander, threw her first career perfect game last Saturday in Hawaii’s 6-0 win over Weber State in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. She had a career-high 12 strikeouts while retiring all 21 batters she faced.
Parnaby shared the award with Boise State’s Aubray Zell, who went 2-0 with a no-hitter.
Nohara, a senior from Waimanalo, hit six home runs and drove in 11 runs in five games in the Arizona State Wilson/DeMarini Invitational. She hit .500 over the weekend with a 1.625 slugging percentage and raised her season home run total to 14.
