SOLIART EXHIBIT OPENS | 1. International artist Gaylord Soli, center, was the guest of honor June 1 at a reception, co-hosted by John Henry Felix, left, Hawaii Red Cross CEO Coralie Chun Matayoshi, Kitty Lagareta and Stephen B. A HOKUS REWIND | 4. Carole Kai was joined by Cyril Pahinui, left, and Kimo Kahoano as she displayed the ukulele she received May 29 as the recipient of the Moe Keale "Aloha Is" Community Service Award during the untelevised part of the 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards at the Hawai'i Convention Center. Kai had no inkling she was going to be honored when Kahoano asked her to help him present two other awards.

LIKE OLD TIMES WITH AURA | 3. Local entertainment industry veteran Bully Soares, left, caught up with Aura members Del and Dennis Mendoza and sound man Henry Anguay while they prepared for rehearsal June 5 at Big Mike's Pro Sounds in Waipahu. Del said it had been 10 years since he last played guitar: "You don't forget but your fingers get stiff." The group was to perform at Saturday's '70s Nightclub Reunion IX at the Ala Moana Hotel.
