Hawaii County office forced to move because of asbestos
KAILUA-KONA >> Asbestos has forced a Big Island county office to move to another building.
West Hawaii Today reported Thursday the county’s corporation counsel office was moving from the Hilo Lagoon Center office to another formerly county-rented facility.
Officials say the move during an abatement process was a precautionary measure and that no employees should have been affected by the asbestos.
Employees have been given asbestos training to learn not to sweep dust in the building or use fans that can make particles airborne.
Inmates from Hawaii Community Correctional Center were used to help with the move this week.
