Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie has appointed new deputy directors to the Department of Health and the Department of Transportation.

Abercrombie on Thursday named Lynn Fallin as deputy director for behavioral health, and Jade Butay as deputy director for transportation administration.

Fallin previously has previously served in administration positions in two states, when she was Hawaii’s special assistant on children and families between 1999 and 2002, and when she was executive director for the Oregon Commission on Children and Families from 1995 to 1998. She replaces Gregory Payton, who resigned in April.

Butay has provided technical expertise for online businesses as a management consultant for MarketScience Corp. since 2004. He replaces Jan Gouveia, who was recently appointed deputy director for the Department of Accounting and General Services.
