The animal cruelty trial of the owner of a Waimanalo puppy farm will not take place next month as scheduled.
The city prosecutor has dropped the case against Bradley International Inc. "to clarify the language in the charges" and filed a new complaint against the company.
The new complaint charges Bradley, through its agent David Becker, with 153 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty. Becker was the facility’s manager.
The company is scheduled to answer to the new complaint next week in Ho-nolulu District Court in Kaneohe. The company intends to plead not guilty and ask for a jury trial in Circuit Court, said Jason Burks, the lawyer for Bradley.
Burks said the city dropped the first complaint after he asked the court to dismiss it for not naming a company agent or employee who committed the alleged crimes.
Becker has not been charged with any crime. The prosecutor said Becker left the state before being served with a summons to answer to charges of animal cruelty.
