An action-packed episode that showcased the University of Hawaii athletic program and an athletic arena packed with rabid Wahine volleyball fans helped pump up viewer ratings for Monday’s "Hawaii Five-0," according to Nielsen numbers released Tuesday by CBS.
"Five-0" finished second with overall viewer numbers — 11.07 million to 11.23 million for ABC’s "Castle" — but was a clear winner among its key target audience, adults 18-49, the network said. It drew 3.1 percent of the total viewing audience and 9 percent of those watching TV at the time.
NBC aired a rerun of "Prime Suspect" and drew 2.73 million viewers.
Last week, "Five-0" attracted 10.07 million viewers.
On Monday, "Five-0" featured an opening sequence shot during and after a Wahine volleyball match at UH’s Stan Sheriff Center last month. The CBS cameras needed noisy crowd shots to accompany the on-court action of a pretend Wahine team.
The episode also included a downtown gunbattle that featured guest star Tom Sizemore in a scene reminiscent of the 1995 film "Heat."
