Makiki man upset over friend’s ouster arrested for assault on police

A Makiki man, upset that his friend was being escorted out of his apartment complex early New Year’s Day, assaulted a police officer who was trying to arrest him for disorderly conduct, police said.

When officers responded to a trespassing type of case at the Makiki complex about 4:15 a.m., the man, 28, became upset that his friend was being escorted off the property and began yelling obscenities to his neighbors, police said. An officer approached the man to arrest him for disorderly conduct, and the man allegedly assaulted the officer.

He was booked for investigation of assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. The man and the officer were both treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
