A 26-year-old man surrendered after a standoff with the Honolulu Police Department’s Special Services Division that lasted for nearly four hours in Maili Monday.

A man and a woman, 24, argued at a Kaukama Road home about 12:14 p.m. when the man flattened the left rear tire in the woman’s vehicle and she fled the scene on foot to a girlfriend’s house, police said.

When Waianae patrol officers went to look for the suspect back at the first house on Kaukama Road, he brandished what appeared to be a black handgun before running into the house, police said.

Patrol units established a perimeter and evacuated neighboring homes, police said.

The man surrendered about 4 p.m. and was subsequently arrested without incident, police said. He is being held pending charges of criminal property damage and four warrants. The gun turned out to be a replica air-soft weapon.
