Law students offer expertise to seniors at library session
The University of Hawaii’s Elder Law Clinic will present "Understanding Elder Law Issues" at 1 p.m. Thursday at Aina Haina Public Library.
The free event is aimed at giving UH law students experience representing clients with a variety of elder-law issues, such as wills, probate, public entitlements, guardianship/conservatorship, landlord- tenant issues, elder abuse, power of attorney, and health care and medical treatment decisions.
The law students, under the eyes of practicing attorneys, will be available for brief consultations on individual cases following the presentation.

Sophomore clinches Shakespeare win with Sonnet 138
Punahou School student Maya Jennings has won a trip to New York to compete in a national Shakespeare competition.
Jennings, a sophomore studying with Michele Skinner, recited Shakespeare’s Sonnet 138 to win the statewide Shakespeare Competition held by the Hawaii branch of the English-Speaking Union, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate English as a shared language through educational and cultural opportunities.
Jennings, who also received $150 in the Feb. 25 competition, will travel to New York for the April 20-23 national competition at Lincoln Center.
She will also be able to participate in acting workshops and city tours.
The $100 second-place prize went to Phoebe Fox, a student of Marylee Ingram at La Pietra School for Girls. The $50 third-place award went to Jesse Tarnas, a student of Ann Renick at Parker School.
