Police have located and arrested a man who allegedly attempted to run over an officer Wednesday near Chinatown.

The man, 31, of no local address, was arrested outside a Keeaumoku Street condominium complex about 9 a.m. this morning.

He is being held pending charges of attempted murder and driving a stolen vehicle.

Last Wednesday at about 11:24 a.m., police stopped a stolen green Jeep Cherokee at Vineyard Boulevard and Aala Street that had been reported stolen.

When the woman driving the vehicle was ordered out, the man in the passenger seat jumped into the driver’s seat and sped away eastbound on Vineyard, police said, nearly striking an officer in front of him.

The woman, 36, of a Papakolea address, was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle and driving without a license.
